A Third Party Is No Party At All

By Al Thomas

Ross Perot proved it!

Many (and I think most) voted for good ole Ross as a protest against the candidates of their party. There were many more who proclaimed their protest by staying home and not voting at all.

It seems that in the past few years the biggest liar wins the election. Yes, the one who promises voters the most freebies gets their vote. When he gets into office he forgets all the promises and does whatever he pleases.

The biggest lie seems to be ”blame the rich”. No one does the numbers. If Washington took ALL the money from the “rich” the Washington elite (Congress) would easily outspend the allotted amount. They never have enough of your money.

One thing no politician ever tells is the rich are those who create the jobs everyone wants. Giving tax incentives to corporations instead of paying more taxes would create more jobs. That’s what companies do. As they make more money they expand and hire more people. Brilliant! BUT…. Creating class envy gets more votes. The rich man can only wear so many clothes and eat so many meals (in fancy restaurants) and own his own plane and several houses. So what? All those accoutrements provide good jobs for many people.

Can we ever find a statesman who will explain that honestly to the voters? It will be difficult with so many people on the dole and others seeking more free stuff.

If you are one of the people in your party (and I don’t care which one it is) who won’t vote for a candidate because he doesn’t agree with everything you believe in then you are a fool. Maybe not a fool, but then you should be running for office.

The “new” party that might be created will not attract their hard core people. You know, the ones who say “my Daddy voted for the party all his life and so have I and I’m not going to vote for any one else”. There are enough of these dummies to defeat a new party every time.

Most presidential elections are decided by very small margins of 3% or less. The dummies will defeat the new guy by doing nothing.

There are few voices at this time by Republicans for a third party. As time goes on and the new guy doesn’t produce the “change” he promised there will be more joining that third party camp from both sides of the aisle. It still won’t produce enough votes to win in a national election.

Realism is we have two parties who don’t give a damn about the voters and will promise them anything just to get in or stay in office. There is a solution.

Finding honest candidates for your own party. Good luck!
